Compost Extract
You can use our high-quality compost to create compost extract.

If you aren’t able to come, there are still some tips we can provide on how to make your own compost extract.
1. The amount of compost you put into the bag will affect how many microbes you can get out of the bag. Use between 1-3 pounds of compost at a time for every 5 gallons of water. It will take you longer but the results will be much better.
2. Use your hands to gently massage the bag under the unchlorinated water. (Chlorinated water can damage the soil life!) Don’t smash or grind the compost – we want to allow as much life as possible to seep out. Move the water through the bag as you agitate the compost. The water will turn very dark as you work.
3. Remember: the sludge you’ll find at the bottom of your container is still full of life! Wash your tank or container where the microbes can do some good. The plants by where we clean our tanks are always very happy.
Bonus Tip
You can also use a hose (if your hose has unchlorinated water) to make compost extract. Just hold your bag of compost open and spray the hose directly into the bag. Your compost will be gently extracted by the water pressure.
