We’re passionate about compost and soil
At Catalyst BioAmendments, we’re composting nerds who don’t cut corners. Soil should be a thriving ecosystem on its own. That ecosystem is what keeps common problems for gardeners at bay. Weeds and harmful diseases that often plague plants are not an issue if the soil food web is intact, diverse, active, and balanced. We strive for perfection when it comes to creating compost, which is why we regularly check our compost with a microscope to make sure it supports diverse soil life. (Want to see just how diverse? Check out our Instagram page!)
The soil food web consists of many organisms, including:
- Bacteria
- Fungi
- Protozoa
- Nematodes
- Archea
- Micro-arthropods
Our high-quality compost speaks for itself
We incorporate and grow many of our materials onsite, including our fungal inoculant. We start each windrow with the ingredients that we want to grow, and then keep the conditions perfect for them to thrive. Our end goal? Biological material that could make a huge difference in the lives of your garden or farm!
“I can say that all my fruit trees are producing like never before. My gardener has been working on the property for over 10 years. He told me he’s never seen that much fruit on them.” - Thrive Seed
We refuse to use green waste, biosolids, or industry byproducts when we create our compost. Cutting corners is not what we do here at Catalyst BioAmendments. We pay our producers well for our premium ingredients because we’re willing to put our money where our mouth is.
In addition to checking windrows with a microscope, we also check the moisture levels. We ensure that no windrow gets too hot for too long, and we have ways to manage them in cases where the compost isn’t doing what it’s expected to do. We have learned much from working with compost and are excited to share great compost with you!
There’s no hard and fast rule about how much compost to use. You can’t overdo it as long as you’re not overwatering. I like to look at the job I have and then think about how much compost is available for the job, compared to how long I have to make the soil productive. Just a little can go a long way!
